[Book Review/Thoughts] Divergent by Veronica Roth

Synopsis

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Review/Thoughts

After a long time, my friends decided to push me into reading this book. I wasn't excited, nor expected much of it because I thought it would be like the Hunger Games (which I like but wasn't inclined into reading the books).

Oh boy, h boy, oh boy,  how wrong was I! Although, it sounded like the Hunger Games, it is NOT alike. This world that Veronica Roth has created is so complex and yet so simple in it's own ways. I'm in love with this world and how each faction has it's own good things and bad things.

Since I haven't read the second book yet, I have my theories of what will happen. I will go on with that at the end of this review ^^

Now, stop reading if you haven't read it yet, I don't like spoiling people....Spoilers are bad!!!
You have been warned...

***I didn't make any notes because I was so into the book (It's so intense!!!) I'm just writing whatever I remember xD

I laugh every time I say Beatrice's name. Because there's a witch in Umineko: When They Cry who has the same name but it's spelled out Bea-tri-che, as if it were Italian or something....And I just...can't! I can't! I can't call her Beatrice anymore! XDDD

At first this whole Abnegation thing pissed me off for some kind of reason, but as the situation advanced I came to like it too. When she chose Dauntless over Abnegation and any other faction I was surprised. I mean, Tris wasn't the rude type of girl. She changed A WHOLE LOT throughout this book. There you can see major character development.

They make a lot of a deal about the Divergent thingy which I thought they were over reacting...again, how wrong was I!

Would you guys really choose Dauntless? I mean ._. WOAH! Those guys are crazy! I'm too much of a baby to actually do all those stuff. But putting those things aside, they are a faction that has it all. It would be the perfect faction only if Eric wasn't there...

Oh oh! I love the Hamburger scene! xDD
"Have you ever seen a hamburger?
"Umm...no."
"No wonder you switched of factions"
"Yeah, I switched for the food"

*le me rolling over the floor*

I don't know if I am a little slow but I didn't knew Four liked her until she kind of realized it. It was kind of cute though. I loved them!! Fourtris *O*

I loved Tris's friends. Will, Christina and Al. They are just so believable, so real. I never never NEVER expected Al to attack Tris that was so unexpected!

Who else knew Four was from Abnegation before Tris knew it? I did ._. xDDD

And her mom was a transfer from Dauntless! Again, I didn't see it coming. It was so lovely of her to visit her daughter. Why did she die!! TT^TT And her father too!

I feel bad for poor Christina. What is she going to do when she realizes that Tris killed Will? *coming up with a new theory*

When it is mentioned that the Erudite and teh Abnegation didn't like each other, I didn't think that would play a major role in the book...How much have I been wrong!?? xDDDD

I've never hated a character too much, but really....Peter why didn't you die?? Why?? Why didn't they just shove him off the train? Why? I hope you don't screw up in the next book, Insurgent, or else I hope Tris kills you. Like really e.e

I think my favorite scene was the paintball scene and the knife-throwing scene! Those were hilarious!
When Peter's like: "Hey Stiff! You've forgotten what a knife is?"
Then she throws the knife and if the first one to do it.
"Hey Peter! You've forgotten what a target is?"

Really my favorite lines! xDDD I even bought the e-Book "Free Four: Tobias tells the story" It is Four narrating chapter 13 *O* Oh my feels! These babies were all over my room when I read it.

Now! to the Theories! :D

Is Christina that good of a friend to Tris? I think she will loose it or something when she meets Tris in Amity. Will she try to kill her or hurt her?

I think that at the end of this trilogy, the Divergent are going to be like leaders for everyone because they are a bit of all the factions...or something like that. I think there's also a possibility for all the factions to be gone and all these people leaving together forming what could be like a normal city where all type of people that has different beliefs live.

I'm gonna shut up now! xD

Conclusion

I freaking loved this book! There are so many nearly-death experiences, so much action!

This is a baby with a little bit of everything: Romance, a whole lot of action, rebellions, comedy, just everything! Go and read it now! Really, you're gonna enjoy it :3

Wanna know what faction you would be in? Go here and do this test. I'm Divergent ;D I'm a selfless, honest and smart person ._. Ok, if you say so test xDD
