[Movie Rant] Rurouni Kenshin

After what felt like an eternity for this movie to be on the Internet, I finally got to watch it! :D And not even thousand of happy face emoticons can really express how happy and impressed I am with this movie.

The soundtracks, the scenery, the actors, the battles, EVERYTHING was amazing!

Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 here, obviously with English subs xD

Warning! Spoilers ahead!
...and extreme fangirling from a girl who's been deprived of one of her favorite anime/manga since a long time...
read at your own risk ._.

At first  I didn't knew how to react because my beloved anime/manga became bone and flesh! Bone and freaking flesh! I'm holding myself back from doing an infinite spam right now ._.

That movie can be described in only one word: EPIC! It was a pity I couldn't see it in my TV :/ Such epicness needed a bigger screen for it to be appreciated even more. *O*

The way he talked was sooo like Kenshin! His "oro" was so cute <3<3

There was no way the actors could've done it in a better way. ♥ Though, Munetaka Aoki seemed a bit older than Sanosuke, but he did great so I won't complain :3

Takeru Sato was just AMAZING! I loved his acting in Beck and Bloody Monday 1 and 2, and in this one...Oh Gosh...MY FEELS!!!! His acting here doesn't compare to any of his previous works. He perfectly combined Himura Kenshin's adorableness and gentleness and Battousai's wildness. At the end when he was fighting Jinei, he started talking deeply and all angry and I was, "OH YEAH!!! Battousai's in the house! Go kick some ass as only you can do!" I can really imagine the stars appearing in my eyes at that moment xDD

The scenery was great! I even felt as if I was in the Meiji era with them...it was all so realistic!!!

And the battles!? I don't really care if all those moves were with the invisible string or not. It was freakingly epic and that is what matters! *spazzing* I can't even imagine how difficult it must have been to practice all those scenes, but the effort was worth it by much!

But what about Saito? Saito was too badass to left out of this rant!! Yosuke Eguchi nailed it. He perfectly made Saito Hajime come into life. His attitude, his fighting style and his baddass-ness <3

Who says you need an explosion behind to make your epic slow walking to the camera look good? Kenshin and Sanosuke only need people in the floor hurt from the previous battle Fuck yeah!!! THAT is to be badass ;D

OHMYGOSH! The violins played at the scene where Battousai gets his first scar *O* EARGASM!! jkhsadfkjdshkfjd

This Gein guy Kenshin was fighting with, I couldn't help but imagine what it would be like if Hiroki Narimiya  had done this character. I don't know if he's much of an action actor because I've never seen him in an action movie but his villain laugh he sometimes made in Bloody Monday 1 and 2 would have been great while he shoot Kenshin like a psycho! *O*

Table flip version Sanosuke! HAHAHAHAH XDDD

LOL! Sanosuke and the guy he's fighting with they just stop fighting and start eating like nothing's happening and go back to fight XDD Sanosuke and food, favorite OTP XD Sorry Megumi ;P

Very good work of doing a replica of the gigantic gun*O*

OH MY GOAUSHHH WDHFKJDSHFKLJD THE HITEN MITSURUGI RYUU, RYU TSUI SEN!!! EVEN THE HITEN MITSURUGI RYU, BATTOUJUTSU SOU RYU SEN!
.....
......
..................

It would be really amazing if they did a second movie with the Makoto Shishio arc. Because Kanryuu and Jin'ei can't even be compared with Shishio's evilness...and also, Aoi Shinomori, Misao and the whole Juupongatana will appear *O* That's my favorite arc the best of the whole anime...
Though if they did the last arc of the manga, the one with Tomoe's brother, would be THE BEST THING EVARR!!

Oh, and the song from the ending.....The Beginning by ONE OK ROCK.... Just seriously, were the directors and the whole crew trying to blow my mind in impossible ways? Because if they did, congratualtions! :D You have achieved it! ONE OK ROCK and Rurouni Kenshin...together?? .____.

That was me ---->

Now, being serious...

Ladies and gentlemen, this?  This. THIS is how a cartoon is brought to life. As far as live action adaptations of anime/manga sources go, this is absolutely as good as it gets.  Direction, music, casting… it just all came together so nicely I’m honestly amazed.

BRAVO JAPAN!

BRAVO RUROUNI KENSHIN CREW!

[Food&Sweets] Chocolate Chip Cookies

After a mega epic fail trying to do chocolate chip cookies last week from a random recipe my friends and I found in the Internet, I remembered my dear book named The Cookie Bible that my mother gave to me. We decided to give it another try...

Try it with us! :D

Note: This recipe mentions the use of Nestlé © chocolate, which I will omit because you can use any type of chocolate chips.

Page 66, Drop Cookies section

Chocolate Chip Cookies

¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-ounce package) semi-sweet chocolate morsels/chips
1 cup chipped nuts

PREHEAT oven at 375 °F

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels/chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets/greased pan.

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets/pan for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Makes about 5 dozen cookies
(depending on the size you make your cookies)

The Results...

Like our attempt of doing a cookie tower? xDDDD

I was trying to eat them and my friend kept hitting my hand to stop me from destroying the tower. *sigh* Yeah, we're long gone crazy xD

Anyways, I feel proud that we got to bake such amazing-tasking cookies without the help of an adult...all by ourselves. They came up WAY better than the last time. They were so gross that I didn't even took a photo.

So, what are you still doing here?

Go! Have fun baking these cookies by yourself, with friends or parents ^^

[Movie Rant] Beastly

Another day of doing nothing in both anatomy and biology brought me back to watching another movie xD

A friend read this book and always talked me into reading it but I didn't want to but then she told me of the movie and I thought I must give it a shot.

Here's the very amazing trailer for this movie.

Spoilers ahead!

So the movie opens with this incredibly handsome guy doing exercise which I find so sexy! But I was quickly disapointed by him. He's a d**k!!!!! "Such a waste of a beautiful face", I thought. Alex Pettyfer is a very handsome actor but I started relating him to Gaston...

My friend told me this was like Beauty and The Beast modern version. It quickly explained everything and motivated me to keep watching it.

So as it is expected there's the "Beauty" played by Vanessa Hudgens and I think she's called Linda in the movie. Quite intelligent of them to change her name but maintain the meaning. Linda in Spanish means beautiful or in this case Beauty. She's the kind of girl that doesn't get played by looks and judges a person by their personality. I was a little skeptical when I saw her of all people playing that part, but she did well.

OH! I just must talk about my favorite character here: Kendra Hilferty, the witch. I loved her!!! Mary-Kate Olsen did an splendid work as the witch and it sad that people only thought about the principal characters. Really, hair styles and clothes were just AMAZING! It reminded me of a dark Wonderland theme, nothing but the best style for a modern witch.

I loved how Will Fratelli and Zola represented Lumiere & Mrs. Pott...at least that was what it looked like for me. Will had that dorkiness that we all loved from Lumiere and Zola was sweet and mother-like just like Mrs. Pott and also she had her kids, which was also another reason for me to visualize her as Mrs. Pott.

"Embrace the suck!" WTF? How did they came up with that!? xDD That's way too funny! Oh, and was I the only one that noticed that when Kyle was a beast "embrace suck" was written on his eyebrows? Talking about the tattoos, oh my! How did they do all that!? I can't even imagine all the time they spent applying all that to him every time they had to shoot. I was quickly reminded by the humuoungus amount of make up and extra stuff that consists the costume of Rumplestleskin from ABC's Once Upon a Time.

When Linda and "Hunter", as he presents himself to hide his identity as Kyle, finally get to really know each other the movie turns sweet and I personally loved the scene when their watching something in Korean on the TV. Also there was the greenhouse thing. It was extremely sweet of him to build a greenhouse for her. There were other sweet scenes of them but the best of them all was when he almost got to kiss her until that damned cellphone rang. *sigh* Cellphone calls, cockblocking since unmemorable times.

Linda said somewhere in the movie, "What happened to romance? Sappy, soppy longhand love letters."  Kyle remembers this and writes a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long love letter for her throughout the movie. He hands it to her after the damned cellphone call...But she had called him a great friend .______________________. "WHY!!!???" I couldn't help but scream that at screen.

My friend, which was re-watching it with me, after that part kept telling me, "They won't end together." Leave it to her to make me uneasy about a movie. I didn't want to believe her but she had watched it for like three or four times, I thought she was telling the truth.

And the suspense for me continued even until the end. I THOUGHT SHE WAS GONE!  BYEBYE! ADIOS!...*sigh* Thanks goodness, that it wasn't how it ended. Happy endings RULE! And oh yeah, I wanted to kill my friend after all that suspense.

Really, my heart warmed as Will had his sight back and Zola found his kids. Beautiful scene. A great action from Kyle. Another beautiful scene was when Linda came back looking for "Hunter" and found Kyle and he told her he was "Hunter". Beautiful~~

The whole crew did an amazing work. Anyone who is a sucker for the Disney Princesses, Disney and fairytales (like me ._.) will really like this. I also find Beastly very easy to like and really couldn't find a little thing to hate about it.

I'll leave you with a loved quote of mine from when Linda was leaving for Machu Pichu.
"I just was scared that you didn't love me. And I didn't think you could because of how ugly I am. I should've known better. That's not who you are. You took one look at me and still said you'd seen worse. And somehow, when I'm around you, I don't feel ugly at all."
Now don't tell me that's true love! Beauty and The Beast forever will be in my heart as the best fairytale in every version.

[Movie Rant] The Perks of Being a Wallflower

A friend of mine recommended this movie because I asked her for a good movie based on a book.
She told me: "Hey! Check out The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It's amazing. I loved it." And when she says she loved a movie it must have been great, so yeah that same day I watched it...
and ended crying like a baby...

Here's the trailer for those who haven't seen this movie before.

Spoilers coming!

At the first part of the movie I felt really related to Charlie. There was a time that I was like that too, but old habits don't seem to be easy to change. I'm still really shy and don't share what's on my mind to anyone. Then there's the part when he meets Patrick and Sam and he tries to fit in that group. *sigh* Fitting in a group...I suffered a lot with that emotionally. I will not get in detail but at least I didn't do drugs or drunk myself like him. So, yeah Charlie reminded me of me. Because of that I cried several times at the first half hour of the movie.

Since his imitation one of the professors, I instantly liked Patrick. He's just so funny! Sam, Alice and Mary Elizabeth were cool too but I preferred Patrick better :3 I felt sooo sorry for him when the Brad's friends started hitting him. It was so painful to watch them throw those blows to him. And most of all, when he couldn't be with Brad. It ended in a pretty bad way and poor Patrick was so sad. Thank goodness he had Sam and Charlie to be there for him. Charlie was very brave to take on those guys to save Patrick. Man, that's true friendship!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show parts were SO uncomfortable to watch! Why? Well, unlike most of you who must have watched this movie at theaters or comfortably at home, I watched this at both my biology and anatomy class and there were more classmates siting behind me. At least they were busying themselves with other things than checking out what I was watching because that would have been very embarrassing

The soundtrack was amazing! I'm not that much of a fan of the 90's music but those that were played in the movie were awesome. But from all of them, two only stayed in my mind. "Come on Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners was the song that Sam and Patrick were dancing to in the homecoming dance, which was freaking hilarious and amazing! And "Heroes" by David Bowie. This last one is the famous "tunnel song". I can say there can't be any other song that could fit that last moment better than it was. It was just the infinite feeling that gave me goosebumps. Such a powerful and real feeling...*sigh* Just loved it.

There's only one thing that I'll not talk about and it's Charlie's Aunt's sexual abuse to him when he was little...Boy, I didn't see that one coming.

Whoever chose the cast, has my congratulations as was well as the cast themselves. I didn't read the book but I can say they portrayed the characters extremely well. When I saw Emma Watson I was surprised to see that her long hair had been long gone. But she still looks great. I've never heard of Erza Miller and Logan Lerman but I loved them both in this movie and hope to see them in many more.

A movie that has both bad and good things but it is still a movie that I won't be able to foret very easily. I know whoever watches The Perks of Being a Wallflower will enjoy it a 100%

I'll finish this movie rant with a quote from the end of the movie, which was just so beautiful said and really held a powerful meaning behind everything it said:

"I can see it. This one moment when you know you're not a sad story. You are alive, and you stand up and see the lights on the buildings and everything that makes you wonder. And you're listening to that song and that drive with the people you love most in this world. And in this moment I swear, we are infinite."

[Book Review] Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Synopsis

Anna can't wait for her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a good job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. So she's not too thrilled when her father unexpectedly ships her off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair, the perfect boy. The only problem? He's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her crush back home. Will a year of romantic near-misses end in the French kiss Anna awaits?

Review/Thoughts

Warning! Contains spoilers!!!!
When you finish reading it come back ^^

It is my very first time reading a normal book. Normal as in non-fiction kind of normal. All I have been reading has been fiction, which  I love dearly but “Anna and the French Kiss” didn’t disappoint me at ALL.

At first I started reading it because of the studying-abroad situation. Since soon I'll be in a studying abroad I wanted to know what it'll be like. But I quickly found myself laughing out loud and imagining myself in those situations. I obviously didn't regret reading this book.

Good/Funny points
  • Anna starts listing the things she know about France, which are all touristic and historical things we all know.
  • She mentions that she only knows how to say oui. Immediately, I imagine all kind of situations that could happen to her because of the language barrier and say, “This is going to be funny!”
  • Every time Étienne talked I couldn't help but read it out loud and try to imitate his English accent.
  • SOAP....great election of acronyms of a school, Perkins!
  • I can’t really say if I like Anna’s father, Jason Ashley, very much. But I can say I relate him to the writer Nicholas SparksI’m not a fan of sad books/movies but since he’s the only author I know that has written MOST of his books in a sad mood, that’s how I imagine Mr. Ashley to be...though, in a more cliché-ish way.
  • I really liked the chapter where St. Clair and Anna were emailing each other in Christmas break. Very funny and sweet chapter.
  • I NEVER expected that kind of advice from Matt and that Cherrie would actually care or try to ._.
  • "I wish for the thing that is best for me. How's that for generalization?" I LOVED that line! Next time I don't know what to wish, I'll wish for that.
  • St. Clair's choice of insults or curses. Words like bloody (insert noun), arse, shite and others. I don't even know how to pronounce shite but I freaking love it! <3
And many many others...

Bad Points
  • I felt really bad for poor Meredith. I mean, the girl has been crushing on St. Clair since like forever and suddenly le wild Anna appears and whatever slim chances she had were blown away. I kept thinking that some guy would appear for her but...nope, not such guy appeared ._.
  • Sometimes I had to lay the book down. There was so much St. Clair in Anna's mind. It was really sweet but sometimes I found it a little bit annoying.
  • Amanda is a Mean Girl wannabe.  Toph is an arsehole and Mike and Dave are also running that ship with him. Point made.

Conclusion

It is a very recomendable book for people like me that are curious of the living/studying-abroad thing and  also for those who like love triangles and stuff like that. Also, this book has shown me that not all "normal" books are boring as I thought.

I loved how funny it is! The relationship between St. Clair, Anna and the whole crew was just amazing. I just  LOVED it.

Wikipedia informs me that "Anna and the French Kiss" is the first book of a storyline. Then comes "Lola and the Boy Next Door(2011)" and "Isla and the Happily Ever After(2013)". Another couple and then Josh and Isla!? ...I can't wait to have those books on my hands ._. <3
